It's the biggest weekend of the year in Brighton and whilst the parade may not be happening, don't forget to check out what our friends at Brighton Pride are doing over at their innovative new venue The Ironworks this weekend.
We've also got a programme for all ages this weekend to celebrate pride.
MAMA G'S PRIDE STORIES 7 & 8 AUGUST 3.30PM
Families can celebrate being who they want and loving who they are with "everyone's favourite pantomime dame" (Metro). Meet some of Mama G's most fabulous creations such as the unicorn that's a horse, the fashionista dinosaur and Bonny, the bunny that's lost her bounce. The whole family will love this interactive hour of song, laughter and sequins!
"Mama G’s stories are sprinkled with tales of inclusivity and acceptance" (The Guardian)
JOSEPH PARSONS: EQUALISER 7 AUGUST 6PM
Joseph Parsons presents a fun-filled hour of stand up comedy about the joys of sport and the joys of homosexuality. As a young, chubby, gay sports fan in the 90's and 00's, Parsons always wanted to be an elite athlete. He instead joined a choir because it required less movement and there was a school trip to Venice.
However, his love for sport has always remained. So what's sport's relationship with him? In the wake of recent events, where UEFA banned the illumination of the rainbow flag on a German stadium and Hungary's recent law changes stop LGBTQ visibility in schools and on TV, where do the values of big sporting bodies and brands really lie? As a natural story teller, Parsons promises a passionate hour of comedy that tackles subjects about body image, being gay, loving sport and hope for a brighter future.
LIONEL & CINDY: THE GREATEST LOVE STORY 8 AUGUST 5.15PM
The sweet journey of an unlikely pear of lovers. Join Lionel and Cindy as they find each other, themselves and a grape deal of silliness. Guava Palava Arts present a spectacle for all ages.
Come with us to Baba Ghanoush Valley, where our two characters enrol on an adventure only the bravest of us are willing to take. Prepare for your heart to melt, break and skip a beat and witness the greatest Rom-Com the universe has ever seen! A very tall Lady and a very small man, invite you into their world, just because they can.
LES QUIZERABLES 8 AUGUST 7PM
An interactive pub quiz for musical theatre queens. Hosted by a carousel of the best of UK drag and comedy; Les Quiz pits the finest Broadway brains against one another and celebrates the fact that your playlists are nothing but show tunes. Will your team find (one song) glory, or do you know nothing of Javert?! Let the nerd battle commence - it'll probably be a dance off.
GAYWATCH 8 AUGUST 8.45PM
Sun, sea, sex, slow motion running... but make it gay! Simon David plays the "frenzied host" (The Guardian) swapping LA beaches for Brighton Pier to host a variety show fit for "The Hoff".
With special guests: Katie Pritchard (Winner, Musical Comedy Awards 2019), Mother (Sell Out, Brighton Fringe 2019), Laurie Black (Winner, Adelaide Fringe Emerging Artist 2018)
